return to list of BowkerLink FAQ topics Data File Submission - Educational and Academic PublishersNYCDOE – Bowker Relationship - The DOE has agreed to outsource the collection and management of metadata to Bowker’s highly regarded editorial services team.
- Bowker will work with the DOE’s publishing community to compile and maintain book metadata.
- All books sold to DOE must be listed in Books In Print prior to being uploaded into the FAMIS Vendor Portal.
What can you expect from Bowker? Bowker will: - Provide you with:
- Data Submission Guidelines
- Sample Excel File Template
- A copy of your Organizational Profile
- Test your data files
- Provide you with feedback on data quality
- Establish regular file frequency with you
- Send your bibliographic data to NYCDOE
What is expected of you? - Validate your organization’s profile.
- Provide updates of organizational changes as they happen (I.e., imprint acquisitions).
- Improve accuracy and timeliness of bibliographic data submission to Bowker.
- Submit files on a scheduled basis, determining with Bowker the appropriate frequency.
- Deliver critical data up to six months prior to publication. Don’t wait until the record is ‘complete’.
